What is Hume Region Integrated Cancer Service (Hume RICS)?

The Hume Region Integrated Cancer Service (Hume RICS) was established in 2004 by the Victorian Department of Human Services. The purpose of Hume RICS is to improve cancer services within the Hume region of Victoria.

The Hume region covers the following Local Government Areas:

  • Greater Shepparton City Council (Shepparton, Mooroopna, Nagambie, Merrigum districts),
  • Benalla City Council (Benalla & district),
  • Strathbogie shire(Euroa & district),
  • Moira shire (Cobram, Yarrawonga, Nathalia & Numurkah districts),
  • Mitchell shire (Seymour & Kilmore districts),
  • Mansfield shire (Mansfield Alpine region),
  • Murrindindi shire(Alexandra & Yea regions),
  • Wangaratta City Council (Wangaratta & district),
  • Alpine shire (Myrtleford, Bright, Mt Hotham),
  • Towong shire (Corryong, Tallangatta districts),
  • Indigo shire (Beechworth & district), and
  • Wodonga City Council (Wodonga and surrounding regions).

As part of the ongoing Hume RICS research into cancer service provision in our area, it was identified that patients, their carers, families and friends required readily available service information in a range of mediums. This website, HumeCancerServices.com.au, and its online directory are initiatives undertaken in direct response to this identified need.

Our work toward cancer service improvement continues with new and evolving projects. The Hume RICS team welcomes feedback and suggestions from all sections of the community.
